Continuing our support of Thinking Black

We are delighted to announce that we will be continuing our support of Thinking Black for the next academic year.

²ÝÁñÊÓƵ funds the organisation's Year 10 Creative Writing Prize, which invites Black British, state-school students to read, discuss and enjoy Black writers, give critical responses and produce original works.

The prize involves a number of session:

  • analysis of set texts
  • tutorials at Oxford University
  • thematic and technical writing exercises
  • writing style development
  • class discussions

Students produce a short piece of poetry, prose or script writing for submission. Last year, the Warden also funded a print publication of some of the best pieces.

Thinking Black

aims to engage, equip and empower a new generation of young Black voices through modern educational programmes that enable student responses to diverse curricula.
