Edward Gorey (1925–2000)—An Anniversary Exhibition

Commemorating the centenary of Edward Gorey’s birth, the exhibition explores his eccentric life, his interest in the macabre, and his enduring love of animals. A precocious child, who taught himself to read aged three, Edward Gorey grew up to become a famous recluse. He lived a quiet life in solitude in his house on Cape Cod: he never married, but devoted his life to his beloved books, ballet, and cats.

All items in the exhibition are part of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Library’s Mann Collection, a remarkable collection bequeathed to the library in 2015 by ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ alumnus and financier David Mann (1935–2012).

Current ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ members with access to the library can enjoy our display anytime ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Library is open.  Others who would like to visit our display should email the library to book a viewing for Monday to Friday, 9 am till 5 pm.
