²ÝÁñÊÓƵ celebrates over 500 years of association with the Lambourn Almshouses

²ÝÁñÊÓƵ was proud to host a special dinner to mark a remarkable milestone: over 500 years of association with the Lambourn Almshouses, one of England’s enduring examples of charitable housing.

The evening brought together benefactors and guests in celebration of a relationship that began with a royal charter in the early 1500s and has flourished ever since. The Warden, Miles Young - who also serves as a Trustee of the Almshouses - welcomed guests to the college, reflecting on the deep and lasting connection between the two institutions.

One of the evening’s highlights was a guided tour of the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ archives, led by ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Archivist, Michael Stansfield. Guests had the rare opportunity to view the original founding deed of the Almshouses, an exquisite manuscript that outlines ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ’s early commitment to the project, and stands as a testament to its ongoing dedication to charitable work.

As the Lambourn Almshouses prepare for a new phase of growth and renewal, the evening underscored the strength of long-standing collaboration, and the enduring values of philanthropy and community that continue to guide us.
