²ÝÁñÊÓƵ welcomed 68 state-school students on cross-curricular study day
On Saturday 8th June, we welcomed 68 state-school students to ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ for an inaugural cross-curricular study day. Focusing on English Literature and Modern Languages, the event was based around the following essay question:
"In reading the literary works of the past, to what extent should we judge them according to our own moral and literary standards?â€
All of the Year 12 students in attendance go to state-schools and have expressed an interest in pursuing a literature-based degree at University. The engaging academic sessions were delivered by Professor Andrew Counter (French), Professor Margarita Vaysman (Russian) and Professor Hannah Sullivan (English), whilst Daniel and Shelby from the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ’s outreach team delivered sessions on essay writing. All of the sessions were designed to support the students as they now attempt to write an answer to the above question, with a generous £500 prize available for the winning student.
